Over the past few updates, we have shared progress on ink cost, print speed, and the high-capacity ink system.

Today, we want to talk about something more personal to your workspace: odor.

UV printing has a clear advantage for makers. It lets you print on a wide range of materials with sharp detail and durable results.

But because of the nature of UV ink, the curing process can release volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). These are what you smell during and after a print.

That does not mean the ink is unsafe. In a standard test environment of 30 cubic meters with 40% ventilation, the gases released during E1 printing fall within the safe range. GREENGUARD Gold certification adds another layer of confidence for the safety of printed objects.

Still, odor matters.

If you print in a small room, near your desk, or around customers at an event, you will notice it more. Some people are simply more sensitive to smells than others.

That is why we developed two air management accessories for eufyMake E1: the Exhaust Fan Kit and the eufyMake Purifier P1.

Why E1 Needs Two Different Solutions

eufyMake E1 was designed to stay compact while still offering a practical print area. To support different projects, it works with both the mini bed and the standard bed.

When you use the mini bed, you can print with the machine fully enclosed. The built-in air filter helps control odor and particles during the process.

When you use the standard bed or roll to film attachment, the side door needs to stay open. This open setup gives you more room to print on larger or curved objects, but it also means the built-in filter cannot capture everything.

Many makers print this way often. Some use E1 in a spare room, a garage corner, a studio, or a booth at a craft fair. Some spaces have good ventilation. Others do not.

We know some of you have already built your own solutions. 3D-printed adapters, dryer hoses, tape, window inserts, enclosures, 3D printer tents with ducting routed to a window. That kind of resourcefulness is part of what makes this community great.

That said, these DIY workarounds do come with tradeoffs.

Exhaust-based solutions still require a window to vent through, which rules out enclosed spaces entirely. Homemade adapters can loosen or leak over time. The fit is rarely clean, and a mismatched exhaust setup can interfere with E1's internal airflow in ways that affect print quality or put extra strain on the machine's built-in fan.

Some users also try building their own filtration using generic activated carbon, but off-the-shelf carbon filters are typically designed for household odors and have limited effectiveness against the specific TVOCs that UV printing produces.

We have also heard from many of you that you would rather just buy something that works out of the box. Not everyone wants to spend an afternoon sourcing parts and testing fits. That feedback is fair, and we took it seriously.

These two accessories are our response: purpose-built for E1, engineered to work with its airflow rather than against it.

If you print near a window or in a room with access to the outside, the Exhaust Fan Kit is the straightforward choice. It connects to E1 and vents odor directly outdoors through a flexible hose.

Strong Airflow Without Disrupting Your Prints

The kit uses a 1.4x oversized centrifugal fan designed specifically for this application.

That is enough to clear the printing area quickly, even during extended jobs with the standard bed wide open.

The larger fan diameter means it can achieve that airflow volume without needing to spin at high speeds. So, you get the ventilation you need without the noise that would normally come with it.

A common concern with exhaust setups is that strong airflow can disturb the ink as it lands, leading to uneven prints or visible artifacts.

The Exhaust Fan Kit was engineered for E1 to avoid this. The airflow path and pressure are tuned so your print quality stays consistent.

Three Speed Levels, Your Call

The Exhaust Fan Kit has three fan speeds (Silent, Standard, and Strong) so you can match airflow to the job.

  • Silent mode runs at around 40 dB. That is about as loud as a quiet library.
  • Standard mode is a good match for typical flat prints that finish relatively quickly. It keeps airflow steady without running louder than it needs to.
  • Strong mode delivers maximum airflow. Use it for longer sessions like large format prints or 3D texture printing, where heavier ink coverage over extended periods means more compounds in the air.

You pick the level. The fan does the rest.

Flexible Installation

The kit is designed to work on a desk or mounted on a wall. It comes with a flexible exhaust hose that you can route to a nearby window without rearranging your entire setup.

Note: This accessory requires access to a window or exterior vent. During heavy rain, strong winds, or snow, take care to make sure the exhaust hose outlet is protected from moisture and debris blowing back in.

If you print in a fully enclosed space without outside access, or want a setup that works in any weather without extra precautions, the Purifier P1 below is the better fit.

eufyMake Purifier P1

Thanks to E1's compact size, many makers bring it to craft fairs, flea markets, gift shops, and makerspaces to do live custom printing.

But these public venues typically have strict rules about air quality and odor.

In the past, that meant you could only use the mini bed with the enclosure closed, which limits what you can print and how much you can produce on site.

With the Purifier P1, you can use the standard bed at these venues and take on larger projects without running into air quality restrictions. It filters and recirculates the air right there, so there is no need to vent anything outside.

That same benefit applies at home. If you print in a basement studio, a room without windows, or any space where routing a hose outdoors is not realistic, the P1 handles air quality on its own.

Multi-Layer Filtration Built for UV Printing

If you have used a laser cutter or engraver, you may be familiar with exhaust and filtration setups for smoke and particulates.

UV printing is a different process. It does not produce smoke, but it does release TVOCs during ink curing, which require a different kind of filtration.

Most general purpose air purifiers are built for pollen, dust, or pet dander. Laser exhaust systems focus on soot and particulates. The Purifier P1 is designed specifically for the compounds that UV ink releases.

It starts with a HEPA 13 filter that captures 99.99% of PM2.5 particles.

Behind that sit 6 layers of high-density modified activated carbon, 2.4 kg in total, with 8.4 square meters of contact area.

That surface area is what makes the difference. More contact means the carbon has more opportunity to trap TVOC molecules as air passes through, rather than letting them slip by.

In SGS-certified testing, the P1 removed 99.54% of TVOCs and 99.99% of PM2.5 particles.

Standard carbon filters use loose granules that air can flow around.

The P1's high-density layered structure forces air through the carbon rather than past it, so the compounds responsible for odor get captured instead of recirculated.

Smart Auto Control

The Purifier P1 connects to eufyMake E1 and adjusts itself based on what the printer is doing.

In Auto mode, it switches between Silent, Standard, Strong, and Standby on its own. When E1 starts a print job, the purifier ramps up. When the job finishes, it keeps running to clear residual odor, then drops to Standby.

You can also lock it to any single mode manually through the app. But for most users, Auto mode means you set it once and stop thinking about it.

Real-Time Filter Life Monitoring

Activated carbon filters lose effectiveness gradually, and you usually cannot tell just by looking at them.

The P1 tracks filter usage internally and shows the remaining lifespan as a percentage in the eufyMake app. You can check it anytime to see exactly where the filter stands.

This means you will know when to order a replacement before performance drops, not after you start noticing odor again. No guesswork, no fixed calendar reminders that may not match your actual usage.

Whisper-Quiet Operation

The Purifier P1 runs across four modes (Silent, Standard, Strong, and Auto). Here is what the manual modes sound like in real life:

Replacement Filter Cost and Lifespan

A replacement filter set costs $199.99. How long it lasts depends on which mode you use most, because higher fan speeds push more air through the carbon per hour, which uses up its adsorption capacity faster:

In Auto mode, the P1 blends these modes based on what the printer is doing, so your actual lifespan will fall somewhere in between.

If you mostly do standard flat prints a few times a week, a single filter set will last several months before needing replacement.

Once the filter reaches the end of its rated lifespan, Auto mode will no longer be available. You can still switch between Silent, Standard, and Strong manually through the app until you install a fresh filter set.

Which One Is Right for You?

Not everyone needs an air management accessory. If you mostly use the mini bed with the enclosure closed, the built-in filter may be enough for your situation.

But if any of the following sounds familiar, one of these two options is worth considering:

  • You mainly use the standard bed or roll-to-film attachment for open-format UV printing
  • You print in a small or poorly ventilated room
  • You are sensitive to odor
  • You prefer a ready-made solution over a DIY setup
  • You print at events, fairs, or shared spaces with air quality rules

Choose the Exhaust Fan Kit if you print near a window or have access to an exterior vent. It is the simpler, more affordable option, and it handles odor by removing it from the room entirely.
